Guitars

Tucker Custom Guitars has a long history dating back to my high school days. It was my senior year and I only had one required class remaining to be taken. The other five periods I spent in the wood shop class. My teacher was Mr. O’Neil and he was the coolest teacher who loved wood working and teaching his students. I remember eyeing a twenty foot 2×12 of beautiful mahogany at the beginning of the school year. He came up to me and said that I would not be using all of that wood for my guitar building ideas but by the end of the school year there was only about three feet left. It was like I have a full time job, I built guitar bodies and a couple of necks for the entire school year. I would sell or trade the bodies at the local guitar store and I built four guitars for myself. The first guitar that I build was and Explorer. I then build a battle axe guitar, BC Rich style Bich and a Lead I designed after the Hondo Lead I that I owned. I still have all four of those guitars and finally after forty years finished the Bich with custom Tele neck that I built. The neck was only the maple, no truss rod or fretboard but it was still straight after forty years. I finally installed the truss rod then took a fretboard ebony blank and finished the neck. To play that guitar after all the years gone by was really satisfying. The battle axe guitar needs a new paint job after I stripped it down many years ago and I will be finishing it soon. After I finished the Lead I guitar I decided that I should start building guitars and necks again, so that is how Tucker Guitars was born. I am excited to start building again after all these years and tap back into my younger self again. The passion for guitars has never left me, it has truly been an amazing journey.
